Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Place raisins in a bowl and cover with white wine that has been warmed slightly and set aside to soak for 1/2 hour. Cream shortening with brown & white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and lemon and vanilla extract. Stir flour, cinnamon and salt together. Dissolve baking soda in 1/3 cup of wine and beat it into the shortening mixture. Stir in flour. Drain soaked raisins and stir with walnuts into the dough. Drop tablespoons of the dough onto the baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes.
